Standards

Editorial standards.

These are the rules we hold ourselves to. They apply to every news story, comparison, guide and company profile we publish.

Accuracy

We report what we can support. Company statements are attributed to the company. Figures from filings or reports are attributed to the document they came from. Time-sensitive facts carry the date we checked them. When we cannot verify something, we say so or leave it out.

How we choose sources

We prefer primary sources: companies’ own terms and policies, regulatory filings, official airport and government pages, and consumer authorities. We use reputable independent reporting where it adds evidence, and we label user-generated content — such as customer testimonials — as exactly that. Every source is listed on the page with its type, so readers can weigh it.

Independence

Our conclusions are ours. Companies we write about do not review, approve or pay for coverage, and they do not see articles before publication. We contact companies to check facts or seek comment where appropriate, and we note when a company has not responded.

We will never describe ourselves as independent of a company with which we have a relevant commercial relationship. Where anyone involved in producing CarRental.news has a financial interest in a company covered in an article, that article will say so prominently.

Affiliate links and sponsored content

CarRental.news does not currently use affiliate links or publish sponsored content. If that changes:

  • affiliate links will be labelled and marked with rel="sponsored";
  • sponsored content will be clearly labelled as such, separated from editorial content and never presented as independent research;
  • commercial relationships will not influence facts, labels, rankings or conclusions, and every page will remain useful without clicking a commercial link.

How we use AI tools

We use AI-assisted tools to help locate and extract information from long primary documents, to structure research notes and to draft text. These tools do not decide what we publish. Every factual statement must be traceable to the cited source, and statements that cannot be traced are removed. We do not use AI to generate photographs presented as real, and we do not publish content at scale to game search engines.

Images

We use licensed photography and credit photographers. We do not caption a photograph as a place it does not show. Where an image is illustrative rather than of the specific location or company discussed, the caption makes that clear.

We link to sources because they support what we say. Editorial outbound links carry rel="nofollow"; paid or affiliate links would carry rel="nofollow sponsored"; user-generated links carry rel="nofollow ugc".

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it and say what changed. Read our corrections policy.
